Stained Glass

Twelve windows.

The stained glass windows were renovated in 1991.

The Gospels

As you enter the church, the first four windows on the left represent the Gospels.

Revelation 4:7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.

Christian tradition has associated these creatures with the authors of the four canonical Gospels -- Mark, Luke, Matthew, and John -- respectively. These images are seen in four windows on left wall of the sanctuary. In early Christian tradition, the left side of the church is the right side of the cross, and is known as the Gospel side.

Burning Bush

There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. - Exodus 3:2

His brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play the harp and flute. - Genesis 4:21

The harp was the national instrument of the Hebrews, and was well known throughout Asia. Moses assigns its invention to Jubal during the antediluvian period.
